DID YOU KNOW THAT IGNORING CLIMATE CHANGE COULD COST US AS MUCH AS 7.5 TRILLION DOLLARS BY 2050?

Find out how you can work with organizations that are working to Fight climate change.

This video was written, recorded and produced by SCAF, the high school leadership group at Common Cents. Read more about SCAF.

Floods. Droughts. Repeated storms. Animal extinction. You don’t have to be a scientist to know that climate change is serious. It’s an issue that everyone is talking about because we know that we are harming the Earth. If we keep overusing electricity, creating tons of waste, and cutting down trees, our communities and many others around the world will suffer from climate change.

By working together we can help take care of the Earth and keep it a great place to live for future generations. Want to start? Practice the 5 R’s and tell others to join you:

Refuse

Refuse to accept things that you do not need or want like an extra plastic bag at the grocery store.
Re-use

You can "reuse" materials instead of throwing them away, or pass those materials on to others who could use them too!
Reduce

Reduce the amount of waste you create.
Repair

Repairing items, rather than throwing them away, helps to reduce waste and save resources.  This also uses less energy and materials than producing new goods.
Recycle

Recycling happens when you save and take reusable materials to places where they can be remade into either the same product or new products.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?
There are people all around the world and right here in New York City that care about this issue too! Find out what other people in New York City are doing and how you can help take action.  Below are organizations that are ready to parter with you to make grants and take action against climate change.
