PENNY PIN VOLUNTEER THANK YOU

March 12, 2008

January E-Newsletter title

Dear Common Cents volunteer,

Room PictureDue to your efforts this past Sunday, we not only accomplished - but surpassed! - our goal of making 30,000 Penny Harvest Leader Pins. Thank you! Your hard work ensures that student leaders in all Penny Harvest schools will be provided with this unique symbol of leadership and pride.

In many schools, these leader pins hold a significance beyond which we even imagine. For example, at PS 335 in Brooklyn, when new student leaders are inducted to the school’s Philanthropy Roundtable, outgoing fourth and fifth graders literally “pin” incoming third graders with their Leader Pins. During a school-wide assembly, inducted members receive a Leader Pin and are told:

“You are now a member of A Beautiful Spirit Philanthropy Roundtable.
And now my responsibilities are in your hands.”

Girl PictureAt PS 335, Leader Pins represent a transfer of great responsibility, not unlike the swearing in of an elected government official.

At Common Cents we continually strive to provide students with the tools and experiences necessary to create informed, caring and capable citizens. Your help on Sunday brought us one step closer to making this possible.

Thank you again for all your effort and enthusiasm, and we hope to see you again soon at the next Common Cents event.

All the best,
