18TH ANNUAL PENNY HARVEST KICKS-OFF!

October 27, 2008

October 27, 2008 - Starting today, over 1,000 schools nationwide - and nearly 500,000 students - will be scouring their homes and neighborhoods for idle pennies. From now until Thanksgiving, students will connect with their parents, friends, and neighbors as they go in search of pennies.

During the next four weeks, millions of pennies will be collected by Penny Harvesters, and thousands of Penny Harvesters will connect with their communities. As students participate in the first phase of Penny Harvest, they literally create their own philanthropic bank account. Students use one hundred percent of the funds collected to make grants to non-profit organizations of their choice.

Support Penny Harvesters!

  1. 1. Save your pennies in case a Penny Harvester comes knocking on your door. If you have pennies you’d like to donate to a Penny Harvest school near you, contact us and we’ll put you in touch.
  2. 2. Don’t live near a Penny Harvesting school? Find out how to enroll your local school in the program. The late registration deadline is November 7th.
The Penny Harvest is a national program, run in the Capital Region of NY; Colorado; Florida; New York City/Metro NY; Seattle, WA; as well as individual schools across the country. Common Cents is proud to acknowledge our 08/09 partners who bring the Penny Harvest to their local communities.

Young Philanthropists Foundation administers the Penny Harvest in Colorado in coordination with Common Cents
