Home > 06/07 Capital Region Penny Harvest raises over $16,000; All Schools Launch Roundtables

In its second year of the Penny Harvest the Capital Region of New York showed growth and promise. Eleven Schools from 7 districts across the region raised over $16,000 in pennies to help their communities. All money harvested by the students goes back to their communities.
Students now begin the Philanthropy Roundtable phase of the Penny Harvest and we are pleased to report that every Capital Region school that harvested this fall is participating. Students will research community needs and work to identify community organizations that address these needs.
As the Capital Region Penny Harvest grows, we are thrilled to see new schools engage students in philanthropy through the roundtable. Due to the hard work of all the students this fall and the overwhelming success of their harvests, even more students will reap the benefits of the roundtable phase. Many roundtables will also undertake Neighborhood Service projects to alleviate problems they identify in their communities.
