PART-TIME SCHOOL SUPPORT INTERN

The Part-Time School Support Intern will work as an active member of the Program Team to implement the Penny Harvest program in NYC elementary and middle schools. The Part-Time School Support Intern will handle program support for a geographic region of approximately 100 schools and support the rest of the Program Team with program implementation.

School support activities include:
• Market program to recruit schools
• Support and consult with program coaches (teachers)
• Support stand-up training to program coaches during fall and winter trainings
• Provide ongoing support to schools via site visits, phone/fax and ongoing email/internet reminders
• Prepare and distribute relevant materials to participating schools
• Document quantitative and qualitative outcomes, including maintenance of school and regional records and other observation tools
• Staff citywide and local program events, including citywide kick-off, student recognition ceremonies, press conferences, etc.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Support the Program Team by answering school support related inquiries
• Assist with program implementation, including: data maintenance, material preparation and filing
• Attend and participate in all program and intern meetings
• On-going support at Common Cents events
• Support the work of the finance team cutting Penny Harvest grant checks and/or other administrative needs surrounding grants administration
• Other program and organization-related responsibilities as directed by the Program Associate, Program Manager, Education Associate

Common Cents will provide you with:
• Management, training, individualized guidance and necessary tools you will need to successfully support and manage your schools.
• Invitation to attend all appropriate enrichment opportunities held at Common Cents.
• Reimbursement for pre-approved job expenses.

Qualifications: The Part-Time School Support Intern should have some experience in an office setting and be able to work both independently and collaboratively. S/he should possess strong public speaking skills as well as written and interpersonal skills. It is important for all Common Cents employees to be flexible and have the ability to adapt to changing needs. S/he should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Publisher and Excel or be willing to learn. The internship will be a 20 hour work week. The exact weekly schedule may vary and will be determined by Program Associate. The internship may contain some occasional on-going weekend and evening responsibilities.

Salary: Based on experience and a typical 20 hour work week.
